When should you smash in a game of badminton?

Question by m.aster: When should you smash in a game of badminton?
When is the best time to smash in a game of badminton? Should you smash on a high serve that curves downward? Any other details would be great.

Best answer:

A smash must dip at a good inclination, otherwise it is useless. So, smashing is most effective when you are not too close to the back boundary line. (If you are too close to the back boundary line, you won’t get a good inclination).

How to hit far and make a smash shot in badminton?

by admin | No Comments | Filed in Training

Question by happybunny: How to hit far and make a smash shot in badminton?
I really like a badminton I’m really sucked at hitting. When I hit the birdie, it’s really soft and doesn’t go that far. So I cannot smash and when the birdie goes way back far, I tries to hit as hard as I can and it doesn’t even reach to the net.
Can anyone show me how I can hit farther and harder in badminton?
Oh, and am I supposed to focus on the arm of the wrist when hitting?

Answer by LAITH
To hit the shuttlecock harder and further, you need to make sure you hit it with the middle of the badminton racquet. This gives the shuttle more power to fly further.
It is better to concentrate on your arm and try not to move or twist your wrist while following through with your shot.
Also, practice is key when it comes to hitting the shuttlecock correctly. The more you practice, the better you will be at it :)

Most effective way to fully execute badminton jump smash?

by admin | 1 Comment | Filed in Training

Question by The Raging Monkey: Most effective way to fully execute badminton jump smash?
I have been playing competitive badminton for while now. I have almost perfected the conventional smash but as my oppnents are on the incline now, its only safe to assume that it’ll take more than normal smashes to earn points. Lately I’ve been trying the powerful jump smashes and ended with..dismal results. What are the basics to a properly executed jump smash?

get behind the bird, jump at the right time and complete a good, near perfect rotation in the air
