Question by Daniel Huerra: How do i play badminton in the olympics?
i played badminton for over 10yrs now. I’ve played badminton in my high school and excelled into varsity level. I played for UC Irvine as well for their teams. But how do i get join the olympics for cometition? I’m currently 23 right now and does anyone know how can i join and compete in the next olympic games for badminton? I think I’m good enough to play but i dont know how to join and compete in it

Sorry, but probably you are not good enough. “Talent scouts” look for exceptionally good players. If you were anywhere near good enough they would have heard about you already and visited UC Irvine to check you out. It’s a case of “Don’t call us, we’ll call you.”

If you really are good enough, you need to be competing at national championship level, eg US National Championships, or at least National Collegiate Championships. Become a Champion, then you might be considered for the national Olympic team.

Most of the Olympic sports have a qualifying process, trials or other competition while others are selected based upon their recent performances.

These trials are NOT open competitions. To be invited to these events, you must be an active competitor with some kind of status in the event such as a national ranking, listed performance (such as a race time) in a recognized competition.

Depending on the sport, 2 or 3 athletes are selected or win a place on the team.

For more information, check with the governing body that organizes the sport in the US. For example, Track is run by USA Track & Field.
