Question by Jake: why do badminton boundaries change between singles and doubles?
My gym teacher is giving extra credit and a free pass from a badminton test if i find the answer. I don’t need know IF they change, because they do. I need to know WHY.

Best answer:

Answer by Duncan In Kuantan
Same reason the boundaries are expanded for doubles tennis. Seeing as there are double the number of players sharing the court, the dimensions of the court are expanded a little to give players a touch extra room. That’s the only explanation I’m aware of.

Can someone clear up the rules on Badminton serving in doubles please?

by admin | 2 Comments | Filed in Training

Question by papalazarou1977: Can someone clear up the rules on Badminton serving in doubles please?
I have been watching the olympic Badminton and it seems that if 1 team serves, and the other team win the point, the other team get the point and the serve moves to the winning team, but I have always played the rules where each team gets 2 serves each and you can only win a point on your serve. If it is not your serve and you win the point, you win the right to serve. Could someone clear this up please?

How to get better at badminton in doubles?

by admin | No Comments | Filed in Training

Question by Callum Baker: How to get better at badminton in doubles?
Hi i have got a badminton competition coming up soon and i am doing doubles and mixed doubles. I play up front and the other person is at the back so how could i get better.

Best answer:

Answer by Badminton Player
Here’s a couple things to practice when in the front.

1. Getting net drops early off the net
If you are forced to hit it back when you’re reaching down, chances are you’ll have to lift. Practice pushing net drops and giving back good net drop returns.

2. Intercepting drives
Drives should be intercepted by the net player and either blocked or drove back. Do not attempt to intercept a drive if it will result in a high, slow shot.

Hope this helps!
